Dorico Pro 5.1.81.2225 Mute Not Working?

Hi, All,

I’ve seen a few threads on this topic but I’m going nuts trying to troubleshoot this. I’m using Dorico 5.1.81.225 - the latest version as of this post.

I have an arrangement in which I want to mute or disable two of the four staves/players. At first I simply went to the mixer to try Muting or Soloing tracks. The first time nothing happened (all instruments continued to sound on playback), so I tried resetting the playback template to no avail. Then, for whatever reason, a little later when I would mute one track NONE of the instruments would sound on playback. That’s the mode I’m stuck in now (one track is muted, all four stay silent).

I additionally tried to go into Play mode and mute them there, no difference. Then I tried disabling the routing drop down so neither “DoricoBeep” nor “NotePerformer” were selected on the specified tracks. This worked at first, but when I disable one and try to disable the other, the first one gets reset to its previous setting.

I thought maybe I’d just add two “empty” players without instruments assigned, but Dorico doesn’t appear to create a staff unless you choose an instrument so I’m back to square one.

Thoughts?

Hi Christian,
Noteperformer uses its own mixer where you can mute the instruments. It opens when you click on the e-button shown in your screenshot.

My GOD thank you!!! I was really losing it! I knew (was hoping) it was something simple I was overlooking. Legend!
