Per someone’s suggestion, I am submitting crash reports from today when I had a project open twice: once in Write mode and once in Engrave mode as suggested as a possible work flow aid for this former Finale user and as described in the manual.
Thanks for providing your diagnostics. One of the two dumps shows a known problem in the current version whereby Dorico crashes if you have something in the score selected when you close the project; this will be fixed in the next update.
The other one shows Dorico crashing when attempting to select multiple lyrics. If you have a set of reproducible steps, that would be helpful. We can probably add some extra protections in this area to prevent the crash, but it would be interesting to know how you triggered this crash in the first place.
The first issue occurred when, using suggestions from others responding to my post regarding the possibility of Dorico having the option of combining Write & Engrave modes - specifically, to have two windows of the same project open with one in Write mode and one in Engrave mode using a feature from the manual. It crashed several seconds after closing the project window of one of the modes - but I do not remember which one.
In regard to the second issue, I believe that occurred when I deleted a note that had lyrics attached and the lyric remained in the score after I deleted the note. I had to select the text in Engrave mode in order to get it out of the score. This happened more than once. I managed to remove the lyric long before the program crashed, though.
@kasky1 I get a consistent notification that “Dorico quit unexpectedly” by opening two windows, selecting an item, and then quitting Dorico from the top menu.
But I am not sure that is what you are experiencing as a crash.
Saving and closing only the file itself with two or more windows open and an item selected doesn’t seem to cause a problem. That’s what I usually do, and as I mentioned, have had zero problems with Dorico crashing in the middle of editing. I sometimes have two, three and even more windows open.
Not exactly what I am experiencing but thank you for sharing this. I get a true crash with a system crash report in macOS and I am not trying to quit Dorico at the time. Thanks, again, @John_Ruggero!
