Dorico responds to carriage returns when pasting lyrics

I’m not sure when this started but when I’m pasting a series of lyrics taken from another source, Dorico reacts to the carriage returns by placing the first word after the carriage return underneath the previous lyric, as though it were in the next verse. I have to stop, select the syllable which shows in the lyric popup as two words in a row, delete the second word, retype it under the next note and then continue until the next carriage return. A workaround is to paste the syllabified lyrics into a random text window in Dorico and then copy them from there. Apparently the carriage returns aren’t read when copying from text within Dorico. Maybe it’s a function of word processors like Pages or the Apple Text Editor but I’d like to avoid this problem. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have had that happen quite a number of times in the past. I just tested copying text from a text editor (notepad++ on windows 11) and pasting text with multiple lines and it worked just fine. In fact, no matter the source I’m not running into the problem. (Latest version of 6.x if that makes any difference). But, I have had that problem many times in the past.

Ideally, you should make sure that your source text doesn’t contain carriage returns!

This has been discussed here:

Thanks for the link, Ben. Interesting info.

I have never encountered this problem in spite of generating the text in LibreOffice or OpenOffice. I suspect this is because the lyrics almost invariably go through the Juicio Brennan Lyric Hyphenator site.
