On March 10th 2026, I uploaded a copy of the Dorico SE User Manual from Steinberg. I was not informed that I would be charged for this download; however, later that day, I saw from my bank statement that £29-90 was debited from my account by a company (Docushipment). I was not informed of this, during or after the upload, that I would be incurring a charge. I am therefore concerned that now that docushipment have access to my bank account, further debits might be made from my account without my permission. I would therefore be grateful if a representative of either. Steinberg or “Docushipment” could reassure me that this will not happen. And also send me a receipt for the £29-90p I have already paid. My email address can be obtained from me via this forum. Thank you, JD ROberts.
Firstly, I would advise against posting your email address on a public internet forum, as it can be harvested by ‘bots’ and used to send you spam.
There is no charge to view or download the user manual from the Steinberg site.
If there was nothing to indicate that you would be charged when you did it, are you sure that the download and the payment are connected (other than the timing)? Did you supply your bank details on the Steinberg website at the time?
I’m sure someone from Steinberg will be along to provide further information in due course.
I can find a company called “Docushipment”, which seems to be a physical shipping company based in the UK. They charge a subscription for their services. You may want to contact your bank to prevent further payments from them, if you can’t get any joy from that company.
(After a bit more investigation, I have some doubts about whether they are a legitimate business.)
Thank you for this advice benwiggy, I have now deleted my email address.
I wonder who “Docshipment” are? If any one knows, please get it touch via this forum. Thanks, JD Roberts
Sounds like a scam. Have you told your bank not to pay?
I’ve added some information to my post. There is a website for a company of that name; though the Google map photos of their address seems unlikely location for a business. Their prices are in Euros, even when selecting the UK flag. They have only been in business less than a year and have only one named person on their Companies House filing.
The whole website seems very “generic”.
I would report it to your bank as fraud, if you can think of nothing that you might have bought from such a company.
This is definitely a scam, you can download all manuals from the Steinberg Website for free.
It’s worth noting that the manual is a model of clarity and like all of the other team members, @Lillie_Harris is very responsive to suggestions.
