I used Dorico just a few days ago, and it worked fine. I was doing some clean up on my computer and now Dorico will not open. I have tried the Elicense and Download manager and I do see Dorico is activated. The Download manager say “can’t reach the server”. How can I repair my installation?
What did you do?
Which version of Dorico is this? What exactly happens when you launch Dorico? Have you restarted your computer? Are you on Mac or Windows?
I Have Windows 11 , up to date version. After I read your email, I restarted my computer and Dorico is back to working! Thanks
I have the same problem. However, when I log on to My Steinberg profile it no longer sjows me as having a valid Dorico 5 Pro licence. I am running MacOS 15.4.1 averything was working fine earlier. I then had a ‘crash’ and after that Activation Manager says I no longer have a valid Dorico licence. I also have a MBP running the same Dorico 5 Pro licence and it still works. Any ideas???
Further to this, it seems that all my valid licences have ‘disappeared’ other than some Halion free ones that I downloaded yesterday? Halion no longer loads.
Some more info. When I view the Licence Engine log files there seems to be a failure at the Steinberg server end around 7:16 am my time. I have a log file showing the licence was available and granted at 7:14 am and then 2 minutes later there is a log file showing the Licence is no longer authorised. Any attempt to log into my account on Steinberg now shows no valid licences. Has Steinberg been hacked ???
I’m really struggling here. Does anyone have any advice ? Where do I log an issue with Steinberg support? I am in the middle of a large project and this is killing me…
An outside chance… Disconnect from the internet and then try to load Dorico.
I think it ‘should’ load (possibly with warnings, which can be ignored). What might cause it to fail are any plugins that hang without online validation.
Thanks, I’ll give it a go.
No effect, it seems to have locked in the fact that there is no valid licence and just goes straight to Activation Manager. I am certain that the fact that my Steinberg Account is showing no valid licences is the root cause of the problem.
Sorry. I thought there was the possibility for Dorico to work (perhaps only for a while) without ‘phoning home’. I vaguely recall assurances on this some years back.
I’m pulling an all-nighter and it’s 3am here in UK, but hopefully someone from the team will pick this up when Europe wakes up!
Hi @Jon_Magill1 , I’m not sure if I can help, but I’ll try as good as I can.
So first please launch a browser and go to our website at www.steinberg.net
On the top right side of the main page is next to the Support menu an icon depicting a person. Click on that and you are requested to log in to your mySteinberg-account. If you succeed on that, you are greeted with a page looking like
If you click on the second item, to show your Steinberg Licensing-based products, is there your Dorico license listed?
No, the only products showing are some Free Halion ones I downloaded yesterday
Did you really log in like I described via our website? If yes, then there is nothing much what at least I can do for you.
Could it be that your mySteinberg account got hacked?
Did you have maybe a trial license that now ran out?
Do you still have the download access code that you got with the receipt of your purchase?
Yes I did log in using my credentials. And I still have Dorico running on my second computer using the same account. I have had a full licence for about 18 months and I still have the download access code from my purchase email. If I was hacked it was a good job and it happened at exactly 7:16 am my time because the logs show that Dorico was validated at 7:14 am and then at 7:16am it showed that it was not valid.
I also have 2FA on my account
Well, then I’m really sorry, I can’t help any further, because I don’t have access to our license servers. Therefore paging my dear colleague @dspreadbury
Thanks, I appreciate your assistance. I’m hoping it is just a server glitch somehow.
Could it be that you have more than one account, and the licences are on the other one?
I did think of that but it is definitely the correct account. And my log files confirm it as they show that everything was fine and then all of a sudden it wasn’t. It all points to something that happened at the licence server end. I’m hoping that @dspreadbury may be able to shed some light on this.
