Dorico using same file name with different files

All of a sudden, when I export a PDF of different files, Dorico gives them all the same name even if the file name is different. I’m having to save each file to the desktop, open it to see what the title of the piece is, and then rename the PDF. Any idea what happened? Earlier today it was working just fine. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi @JPayne, it is suggested to use “tokens” (called ingredients in the dialogue  ) in the File name recipe field, or to check if you have some manual added text there, as Dorico remembers the manual inputted text and uses it for subsequent projects (this was already discussed on the Forum):

I’ve never done that, but will start now. Thanks, Christian, for all your help.

You nailed it. A file name was in the File name recipe rather than the ingredients. I reset to Default and it works perfectly now. Thanks.

Glad it helped, @JPayne.

P.S. Before I reached out to the Forum, I searched for an answer but didn’t really know what words to use in my search. I should have used “tokens” and “ingredients.” Still learning, but have made lots of progress and I’m very glad I moved to Dorico from Finale.

@JPayne, as suggestion, just use simple general words and most of the time the search engine of the Online Manual works very well.
I tested entering for example “export name”, and the first result was this (searching for “pdf name” gave the same first result):

Christian:

Just realized what I did in my faulty search. I was searching on the Forum but you were searching in Dorico Pro 5 Help. I fount this online at the Steinberg website and have bookmarked it for future use. So much to learn. Thanks again for your kindness and deep knowledge of Dorico. I could not have made the transition from Finale so quickly and smoothly without the support and wisdom of you and all the other musicians helping on the Forum.
