Dorico won’t “see” the “espress” instruction when it’s a suffix for a dynamic. Having created a playback technique and assigned it in your expression map, you also need to create a playing technique via Engrave > Playing Techniques that is mapped to the “espress” playback technique you’ve created. For some more information about the relationship between playing techniques printed in the score and playback techniques that trigger specific behaviours in your sample library, start here.
