Dotted note tie-condense

dot condense.dorico (1.5 MB)

How should I set the condense for a dotted note with a tie in the middle?

start separate stems one bar earlier

What should I do?

move the condensing change one bar earlier - upstem and downstem voices

If I change one bar earlier, the marked section will also change. This should be an up voice.

You can, in Engrave mode, flip the C in bar 2 (select and press F), and assign it to Voice column index 0, then set the direction of the tie as desired:

Dorico file example (Notation Options/Condensing with factory settings, so no need for condensing changes):

Is there no way to configure this separately in the Condense option?

No, I think you cannot have two different condensing change states for a tied note (since in Dorico a tie chain represents one single long note).

Thanks.

Do you know the solution for the highlighted part?

1. Slurs are not displayed.

2. How do I create the desired shape when only 2.a2 appears?

please don’t post the same question in different threads. I answered this in your original thread:

I just saw it.

Thanks.

Here the corrected file (following the suggestion given in the other thread):

tie,slur condense-CORRECTED.dorico (1.3 MB)

Thank you for your kind response.

For the desired shape at 1 bar, can I use the Voice column index 0 as you mentioned above?

Do I need to work in Gallery View to add Playing Technique Text above condensed notes?

Yes, you can use the same trick (as in post #6, here above) with flip (of the upper note) and voice column index (on the lower notes this time). Here the v2 of the corrected file:
Result:

Dorico file:
tie,slur condense-CORRECTED v2.dorico (1.3 MB)

To edit condensed music you need to be in Galley view, yes.

How do I hide the stem for an eighth note? If I hide the stem, the note head disappears too.

For different questions, please create a new topic (thread).

(Hiding the stem for an eight note doesn’t make the notehead disappear. Please, try again, or provide an example in a new topic.)
