Dotted rests in 5/4 meter

Hello everyone. I’m in 5/4 meter and every time I put an eighth note at the and of beat 2, I get a dotted quarter rest before that. I’m aware I can break it into a quarter rest and an eighth rest by using the forced duration command (O), but is there any way I can do so by the default? I’ve gone through the Note Grouping and Rests settings in Notation Options but haven’t been able to find the solution. It would be appreciated if any could help me with this. Thank you!

Welcome to the forum, @Takumusic !

Take a look at Notation Options > Rests > Compound Time Signatures > Rests at the start of compound beats.

Welcome to the forum as well @Takumusic.

If the above suggestion doesn’t work for you, you can also add in the beat grouping when you create the time signature.

In the time signature popover, you might enter [1+1+1+1+1]/4 and this will give you a 5/4 bar but each beat is separated. Or [3+1+1]/4 would also be a 5/4 bar but with beats 4 and 5 separated.
