I’m sure there are theoretical musical reasons why no one would want one but is it possible to show a mordent with a double sharp? I want the example below to incite a semitone drop to C double# but can only get the C#.
At the moment I don’t think this is possible, no: mordents and turns don’t have the same kind of intelligence regarding intervals that trills do. This is something we will return to when we make these ornaments play back.
Thanks Daniel. It’s annoying that I managed to do this in my old Sib***us days but I’m happy to leave this to the sensibility of the performer for now.
You can of course create a playing technique that combines the mordent and double sharp accidental if you want.
