Along the same lines as the quick double-tap on a note value to produce a dotted note, would it be possible to add that functionality to the sharp and flat keys to enable quick entry of double-sharps and double-flats to notes when entering pitch using the A to G keys on the computer keyboard?

At the moment I’m redoing an early 19th-Century piece which is absolutely riddled with double-dotted notes. After the double-tap on the note value, the jump down to opt/alt-period for the extra dot has become a very frequent occurrence. Is a quick triple-tap on a note-value key a possibility to enter a double-dotted note?

You want to input a double sharp by double-tapping the =
key? An interesting idea. I’ll think about it.

I had a similar idea a long time ago, but had forgotten about it.
By using the same click-and-hold method that is currently available for voices, dotted notes, tuplets etc.:
how about doing the same in the accidentals panel, and making available their variants:
so the flat sign would have its three versions and the sharp would also have its three.

Seems to me these would work only if Qt can reliably distinguish a double-tap from two separate taps by the timing – because normally these keys toggle the attribute.
