I have a guitar tablature that doubles a b note, once on the second string open, and once on the ninth fret of the fourth string. When I try to move the c note in the example, it doubles the b note and only shows as open. I need the tab to read 8, 9, 0, 0. It will read that “c” and adjust to 8, 10, 0, 0. As soon as I change it to “b,” it reads 3, 0, 0. Any suggestions.
Select the 0 on the tablature stave, and press M as many times as the number of strings you need to move it down. If needed, do the same again with the second 0.
Normally Dorico knows not to put two notes on the same string, or at least warn you if that’s happened, so I’ll flag this for the team to look at when they get a moment.
Wow, quick reply. Thank you.
I tried that. It does look like I have the f, g, and b as a chord in a second voice with the b in the first voice. When I move that c note to b, that second b just disappears in the tab and the stem of the harmonic b attaches to the melodic b by upstemming.
In that case, please post your project (or a cut-down version of it that just contains enough bars to demonstrate the issue) here for myself or someone else to investigate.
How do I do that?
I think the easiest thing here is to set the “String” property for the two notes when they have separate pitches (C and B), before repitching the C note downwards. The problem is that once the two notes have the same pitch it becomes difficult to select them individually.
Another approach: Ctrl+Shift+click on the overlapping unison noteheads (repeatedly, if necessary) to select only one at a time. Read the display in the status bar at the bottom to tell which voice is selected.
