Any way to group the five woodwind players under the same bracket in galley view?
Engrave mode lets one add brackets to any continuous set of staves.
Click on one staff and apply the bracket; then stretch it include the other staves in the bracket group.
Understood, thanks. But I’m wanting the group in galley view. It’s very hard to keep track of where one family ends and another begins without proper grouping, and I’m hoping there’s a way to change that.
Bracket changes at the start of the flow will display even in galley view. If you have multiple flows you can copy the bracket change to the beginning of each flow.
Would you mind telling me how to change the staves that are included in a bracket? I’ve searched the manual and I see pages about brackets and grouping, but I don’t see how to actually make this specific change. Thank you!
I found this:
https://steinberg.help/dorico/v2/en/dorico/topics/notation_reference/notation_reference_barlines_custom_joins_inputting_t.html
So I did that. Now I get this:
This does join the brackets, but it isn’t really helpful. I have one player holding a flute and an alto, yet the bracket does not connect both of those instruments. It might be even worse! What am I doing wrong?
Make a copy of the file and play with it. Add and remove brackets to see if you can get what you want. A few minutes experimenting (go wild on the copy) will likely give you far more options and greater experience than waiting for someone to tell you.
Try putting a note in each instrument in Galley mode so all staves show up in play, for example. One can always remove notes later one brackets are set.
Hi @jjm_335 today I had time and so I made a short video to show a possible workflow (about bracketing options). Maybe can be of some help:
This is SO helpful, thank you!! Now I see where/how this is done.
You are welcome
