Doubling the notes of a staff for playback

In many baroque and classical scores, the bottom staff often represents notes played by several instruments, e.g. cello at pitch and bass an octave lower. Is there a way to get Dorico to double the notes in one staff during playback without having to create a new staff with the same notes but with a different player?

It might depend on your VST player, and whether it can play a different sample on the same MIDI channel at a different octave.

In Dorico you can only send a player to a single endpoint, however, if you’re using HSO as your playback device, just load the extra instruments on THE SAME midi channel as the player in the score, and you’re done. You can also change transposition there. On the other hand, if you’re using something like NotePerformer I think it’s impossible to use this method…
