I purchased a second hand, boxed version of Cubase 10.5 with the-Licenser and Redemption card inside.
I have installed Cubase and tried to get an activation code but I only get an error message that reads “Download Access Code consumed by another user. Please contact your local support team.”
I know the code is not consumed by another user any more as I bought if from a friend. I even have my mates login details which show nothing consumed by him.
Steinberg are unwilling to help. They said " older licenses than Cubase 11 are not supported anymore. so it is not possible to get an older Cubase license from us. Steinberg cannot help in second hand issues or cases. Please contact the seller directly to solve the problem."
This is totally out of order to be honest.
Have any of you lot had this problem and found a way out of it?
Also, When I try to register I get the error message “This eLicenser number has already been registered by another user.”
FFS!
I have evn tried to use my mates activation code, to which I receive this error “Activation code already ben used. can only be used once. contact your software vendor to get a valid activation code”
The Download Access Code is a one-time thing, which is used to get a licence onto the USB eLicenser. If you have the USB eLicenser that contains the Cubase licence then you are ready to go - install the software and plug in the USB eLicenser.
You can’t register the eLicenser against your account until the seller deregisters it from their account.
Steinberg will not issue a new Download Access Code for a used product.
As @steve says, licences for products licenced on a USB eLicenser are transferred on the USB eLicenser and cannot be transferred any other way.
If the registered owner of the USB eLicenser has deliberately transferred the licence off the USB eLicenser, then you need to get your money back, because they are trying to sell you something that they no longer have. Steinberg will not issue a replacement licence because that would be giving the seller a second licence that they are not entitled to.
If the registered owner of the USB eLicenser registered the USB eLicenser, and the licence has been lost because the eLicenser is defective, has been lost or stolen, they can make a Zero Downtime claim.
You should never part with money for an eLicenser licence until you have verified that the licence is on a USB eLicenser in your possession and is not registered to anyone else.
Ultimately, this is not Steinberg’s problem, unless the eLicenser has lost the licence because it is defective, but the licence is still showing in the registered owner’s My Steinberg account. In that case, Zero Downtime should resolve the situation.
