Download Assistant empty, reinstalled, still empty

Hi, not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I can’t seem to reach Steinberg via support ticket.

The Steinberg Download Assistant suddenly shows up with “No downloads are available for this selection”, in EVERY category. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled, I still get the same problem.

Mediabay, Activation Manager are all updated to the latest versions manually.

Anybody have any ideas why this is happening, I’d really appreciate it.

Currently running Windows 11, 22H2.
I refuse to update to 24H2 because I’ve read about alot of problems with that version.

Thanks.

I’m assuming that you have logged in?
Otherwise, my usual advice is to use the download website. Save yourself a lot of time.

Yep, logged in.

Download website? What do you mean?

About 90% of Steinberg software is available at the Steinberg website. This bypasses the SDA, but you’ll still need to use the appropriate licence software, depending on whether the software uses the old (pre-Cubase 12) or new licence system.

oh those. Yeah I guess that will have to do.

But this is ridiculous.

This just started happening to me as well. It worked perfectly just a couple weeks ago the last time I installed software with SDA. Now, just today, I’m having this issue as you described it. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, no dice. This “solution” of just bypassing the SDA entirely is the only fix I’ve seen so a far across multiple forums.

Yes, Ridiculous. At this point us legit owners of software are working harder than the people who are pirating this same software.
The download assistant is supposed to make things easier.

I’m seeing the same for all products “No Downloads available …”
I’ve logged out/in, redownloaded the download assistant, removed and reinstalled several times, changed download folder etc. - nothing makes any difference.

We started my son’s non updated DL Manager and got the same message - luckily he didn’t remove any older installs so his Nuendo 13 still works.

Also I downloaded most Nuendo 14 files with FDM instead of the DL Manager, everything shows up in Windows Explorer, though mysteriously not in the DL Manager.
IMO there’s something wrong with DL Manager, it should at least see the downloaded files.
I’ve only used Nuendo since v.11, but it has been a troublefree ride until now, first time I’ve disappointed in Steinberg.
As stated above “The download assistant is supposed to make things easier”.

I don’t really have a solution but want to point out that the Download Manager has no effect whatsoever on whether programs on your machine run or not.

Visiting the website seems quite trivial too. Since many people report probs with the SDA, users might lower their expectations instead if raising their blood pressure.

It’s resetting the user settings, not re-installing Steinberg products that initializes them. Reinstalling simply re-uses the faulty prefs (if that’s even the problem)

To reinitialize the Download Manager Rename this folder on Windows

C:\Users\your-username\AppData\Local\Steinberg Download Assistant

And then launch the S.D.A.

Tried renaming, but it made no difference.
Thanks for the suggestion though. :slightly_smiling_face:

To quote myself from a few days ago…

New version of Download assistant 1.37.4 is available, slow GUI for some reason(maybe Win Defender?), downloads - but doesn’t install anything (at least for me).

Well well well, looks like this update has gotten me back up and running.

Managed to install some VST updates too.

Yet somehow, I’m still sickly expecting more glitches to pop up in the future.
