Download Assistant "installation failed" - again

Hi!

I had this problem with Dorico recently, now it occurred when trying to install Cubase 14. It seems to be a common thing, has Steinberg fixed it or is the only way to do the download manually?

Is this MacOS?

Oh yes, pardon. Sonoma.

I’m pretty sure you have to make sure the SDA has “full disk access,” but more importantly, you have to make sure you’ve enabled the 2 SB helper daemons:

Those two items consist of:
com.steinberg.SilentInstallHelper.plist
com.steinberg.HALionLibraryInstallerHelper.plist

The “SilentInstallHelper” is the important one for auto-launching of the downloaded DMG files.

In my testing SDA doesn’t HAVE to have full disk access, but I think SB calls that out as a requirement. If you don’t have time for all that, you can still just launch the associated DMG’s in the Steinberg folder in your Downloads - that really does the same thing.

But running the helper is what fixed the auto-installation for me (I’d had the plist files disabled on my side). I think Sonoma’s Logon Items looks a bit different than my Sequoia screenshot, but it’s been a long time since I’ve used Sonoma.
