Download Assistant Problem Feb 2025

Hi everyone. I’m having a problem with Download Assistant. After the latest automatic update, the program won’t start. I downloaded DA again (version 1.39.3).

After several failed installation attempts (double-clicking the installation file didn’t do anything), the setup screen finally opened.

This is what appeared:

I continued with the installation after this error. I tried to launch DA and got these error messages, and the program wouldn’t start.

Does anyone have a solution? I have Windows 11 25H2, build 26200.7840.

Thanks to anyone who can help!

Did you uninstall DA before the new install attempt?

Uninstall Steinberg Download Assistant;
Check whether the following folders are still present after uninstalling. If so, delete them manually:
C:\User\AppData\Local\Steinberg Download Assistant
C:\ProgramData\Steinberg\Download Assistant
C:\Program Files (X86)\Steinberg\Download Assistant

Make sure the Steinberg Download Assistant download folder path has been restored.

The second failed is related to java virtual machine.

Here is the help in your language:

If the problem persists, further steps will be necessary. This usually happens if the Steinberg Download Assistant download folder path (destination folder) was changed before the error messages appeared.

Make sure the Steinberg Download Assistant download folder path has been restored.

Thanks for your reply.

Before installing, I had uninstalled DA, but without deleting the folders you mentioned (this all happened before I posted my help request).

I checked the link you kindly sent me.

Unfortunately, now I can’t even uninstall DA. When I launch the Windows uninstaller, it returns this error message and won’t continue:

Press Win+R, enter %temp% then delete all possible inside that folder and reboot.

Try to uninstall, if positive manually delete these folders:

C:\User\\AppData\Local\Steinberg Download Assistant
C:\ProgramData\Steinberg\Download Assistant
C:\Program Files (X86)\Steinberg\Download Assistant

Download the installer again (the old one could be incomplete or somehow corrupted) and launch it as admin.

Thank you. I’ll try it
