Download Manager - vanishing green installed bars

I have used download manager to install cubase pro 15 as well as other purchased vst/instruments

They all installed with ‘green bar/tick.’

However, when I look at download manager on another day the former ‘green’ bar is now blank for several vst or expansions and the button to install is again available. Some components however do still have the green bar to show it is installed, so not all are affected

When I check another way to see if all the vst/expansions are installed (In library plus I can use them) - they did all install.

I want to rely on download manager to see what is installed/not installed but if it is not keeping an accurate record with the ‘green bar’ this reliance is misplaced.

What is happening?

Cheers

Jim

Did you delete the downloaded installers?

The “Steinberg Library Manager” should tell what you have and haven’t got installed.

Only content files.

Programs are listed in the activation manager.

This is true. It must also be added that using the download manager to show if things are installed also keep the installers which take up disk space. I wonder if the OP deleted some installers as this would mean the grean bar/tick would go?

Also can you have programs acivated for your computer but not even have them installed?

In a nutshell: you can’t. I was told by Steinberg that this is the way it is and there are no plans for the near future to change it.

Thanks to everyone - Much appreciated

It seems that there are three ‘systems’ in Download Assistant

My Products simply lists all purchases made by the user linked to a valid download code/license but does NOT ‘know’ reliably which products are installed on the local machine. If there is a ‘green bar’ it has been installed BUT having no green bar does not mean an item is not installed

Updates lists if there are updates for any purchases made and linked to a valid download code/license. It seems to ‘know’ if the update was installed on the local machine because, once installed, the update is no longer listed under updates in download assistant

Third, Download Assistant also lists all products for which a user may not have a download code - they can be installed but will not run given no license

Comment: The system is probably OK for purchase with few component items but if a user is running several machines it can become hard to keep track of all the installed components in single-license big bundles such as Absolute 7. It seems a user needs to keep a list of what is included in the bundle and then manually check in Library to see if they are installed on the local machine.

I feel It would be useful to have a view in one of the Steinberg apps of components Installed/Not Installed on the local machine for each of My Products.
