In Play Mode clicking on the Edit button of a VST Instrument reveals the plugin window but the window title does not reflect the instrument name assigned in the Endpoint Setup.

The plug-ins windows themselves will always use the plug-in’s actual name; Dorico doesn’t have a way of telling the audio engine what you’ve changed the name to. The name you use will appear in the VST Instruments panel, the track headers in Play mode, and in the Mixer, but cannot appear in the plug-in windows themselves. However, the number should always match so it should always be easy to tell which is which.
