Drag & Drop from arrange window -> NI SW

To get a sample from the arrangement window into eg NI Maschine, you need to do the following steps:

  • Add the project folder to the media bay
  • Scan folder
  • Find the sample
  • Drag into Maschine
  • Open media bay to disconnect the audio folder so the project files are not index in media bay

So my question, why cannot this happen in the background and eliminate 5-6 clicks and potentially losing the workflow.
Ideally this is how I would love to do it. 1 simple drag and drop:

No loss of creative flow, and not at least time and frustration!

There’s an easier way to do this:
Select the audio you want to import, Alt+Right Click, then select Audio → Find Selected in Pool. Right click the file on the window that shows up and select Show in Explorer. You can now drag and drop this file into any plugin.

If you do this often, you can make this a macro, and do all of that with a single key:
Find Selected in Pool → Show in Explorer

Hi R
Thanks for your suggestion, but that does not work - at least not on PC. That would be too easy! LOL

The only way to make it work is to drag from pool, as the windows with the plugin is not active when you pull it form the outside.
The only way to make it work is to have the audio folder for the project in the media bay, which should in fact be default and only indexed for the project.
