Drawing volume changes into audio clip

I’m using Cubase Elements 11
I’ve seen several videos of people using the drawing tool to manually adjust the gain of an audio clip.
I can’t seem to ‘draw’ onto/over the clip to achieve this, as shown in the videos.
I can’t work out what I’m doing wrong. Any help appreciated, John.

Hi, I think, it’s called Event Envelopes.

I have just started Cubase Artist and the feature is available.

In Cubase Artist manual, it’s described here.
