Drum pads pane confused after changing kit piece stem direction

After changing the stem direction on certain kit pieces (Setup->Drum Set->Edit Percussion kit), the Drum Pads view now looks like this:

I didn’t change any voices, just stem direction, e.g., all Toms are stem-up.

What is the relationship between instrument definition and Drum Pads (besides the obvious kit pieces)? Why would stem direction have any influence on the Pads pane?

After changing views, minimizing then restoring app, the Drum Pads pane is sane again.

Probably something for the UI team to have a look at, but I’m ok for now
