Drum set voices

I’m trying to understand stem and voices in drum sets. I entered input mode and just typed ‘y’, then up arrow through the entire kit. Can someone explain how these voices are allocate?

Each instrument in the kit (as represented by the different noteheads and staff positions) is assigned to a voice in the Edit Percussion Kit dialog.

You can also automatically simplify drum set notation in Library > Notation Options > Percussion.

Fantastic… I was staring at that dialog all morning and completely missed stem/voice assignments …
