i would like to be able to use drum sound from external instruments for drum tracks
Since Drum Tracks exist exclusively for the usage of the Drum Machine and yield no advantage over a regular MIDI Track when used for an external midi device I am sorry to say this feature request makes no sense.
You can use the Pattern Editor on a MIDI Track or Instrument Track, if that is what you are really looking for.
What kind of advantage would it have to allow routing on a Drum Track?
What kind of external instruments?
Roland Fantom-XR and XV-5050 for example
Record the individual drum sounds into Cubase. Copy the drum one shots (you’ve just recorded) into different pads on the Groove agent SE VST. You can then trigger these sounds using the drum pattern editor.
They are dynamic drum sets. The sound changes depending on the velocity.
So can you explain exactly what you’re trying (wanting) to do? I’m afraid there’s too much open to interpretation at the moment.
Just so we’re all talking about the same thing, can you clarify please:
– do you mean “a MIDI track for drums” or do you mean the new “Drum Track” feature in Cubase 14?
– also, what version of Cubase are you using?
By the way, and completely off topic, is your avatar a picture of a real cat? Because, if so, that’s awesome!
Yes, i mean the new “Drum Track”
Which brings me back to my initial response. A Drum Track, that allows to be routed to an external midi port, is basically the same as a MIDI Track routed to that port. The MIDI Track is actually superior. So there is nothing to be gained by your feature-request.
Please let us know why you can’t simply use MIDI Tracks.
i can use MIDI tracks. I thought Drum Track (Drum Machine) have more functions after watching the video: Drum Machine
Please close here
Hey there - I think the distinction here isn’t that it’s a “Drum Track” but rather a track created with the “Pattern Event” event-type:
When you go to create your Midi track, change the Event Type to “Pattern Event.” That will give you the grid-based editing feature it sounds like you are looking for.
You’re right that creating a Drum Track automatically uses a “Pattern Event” type, but I just wanted to make sure you were aware that you can also create Pattern Event-based tracks for Midi and VSTi tracks too. It sounds like that’s what you are looking for, so just wanted to point that out ![]()
That sounds interesting. Do I have to try.
Thanks ![]()
