DSP56300 Emulator Plugins (The Usual Suspects) Load Successfully But Output Zero Audio in VST Live P

I need help with an audio output issue affecting only specific plugins from The Usual Suspects in VST Live Pro.

Issue Summary

  • Plugins that DO NOT output audio: The Usual Suspects DSP56300 Emulator and its derivative emulations (Access Virus, Waldorf, etc.)
  • Plugins that DO output audio in the same VST Live Pro session: ALL other VST instruments tested
  • Reference host where plugins work correctly: Cubase Artist 14

This confirms VST Live Pro’s audio engine is functional—the problem is isolated to these specific plugins.

Scenario Result
Any other VST instrument in VST Live Pro :white_check_mark: AUDIO OUTPUTS NORMALLY
DSP56300 Emulator (The Usual Suspects) in VST Live Pro :cross_mark: LOADED SUCCESSFULLY, ZERO AUDIO
DSP56300 Emulator in Cubase Artist 14 :white_check_mark: AUDIO OUTPUTS NORMALLY

Critical Clarification

:warning: This is NOT a global audio routing issue. I have verified that:

  • Every other VST plugin I’ve tried in VST Live Pro produces sound without problems
  • Master output, bus routing, and audio drivers work correctly
  • The issue is exclusive to The Usual Suspects plugins in VST Live Pro
  • The same plugins work perfectly in Cubase Artist 14 (same ROM files, same MIDI configuration)

Most likely an issue of the MIDI-Configuration. VST Live acts different than Cubase with channel selection. Depending on your routing. If you use a Layer, the channel selection in the input acts as a filter (any → all go through, “1” → only events on channel “1” goes through). It does not change the channel information of your Input-source.

It’s not a MIDI problem—a single layer with MIDI channel set to “any,” and just by switching to another VST, you already have audio.

any means it does not filter any channel out and the events keep the original channel. If it is not “1”, the DSP56300 will not respond.

I just checked with ALL VSTis available from TUS on my Mac (Tahoe/Golden Gate). I threw them in Layers and on MIDI tracks, they are all working as expected. Are you on Windows perhaps?

Yes, windows Pro 32GB de RAM

Are the ROMs installed correctly?

Yes, the ROMs indicate the .bin when opened. Also, as I mentioned, they work in Cubase Artist 14—read my first post.

Falfango, any means it does not filter any channel out and the events keep the original channel. If it is not “1”, the DSP56300 will not respond. You were right, the problem is that my MIDI keyboard transmits on channel 16 and in VST Live some plugins need me to adjust it — MIDI In 16, Instrument Channel 16 — resolved

It seems that Cubase Artist 14 does this automatically
