Duplicate Flow

To experiment with an arrangement (without continually saving under alternate file names), I duplicated the flow. Fine so far.

I guess I have something set wrong because I don’t know which flow I’m in without scrolling left and right to find the beginning. (This is in Galley view.)

I guess I somehow removed the titles from the top of the page. (I foolishly thought a new flow would be a different tab, but I understand why that wouldn’t work.)

How do you know which flow you are in?

I think I will go back to alternate copies of the file. For me, the duplicate flow solution is a bit awkward (although it is good feature).

Hi @konradh,

in the window Title, the name of the flow will always be shown (before the name of your current Project File, where it lives), so you can orientate yourself.

If you see only the Project file name on top of the window, you probably deleted the flow names from the Project info dialogue (the ones on the left panel, with the numbers 1., 2., etc…): you can change/edit the flow name (not the title!) in the project info on the left panel as desired, and they will appear on top of the window.

You can rename the duplicated flow as you need, for example here renamed as “sketch”:

@Christian_R , Excellent! Thank you!

Just an additional info: When you are in the middle of your 10000 bar long score, you can always switch to the setup panel with Ctrl/Cmd-1 very quick and the flow you are currently working in is highlighted.

…and you may also use the Jump-Bar for this purpose

Those Flow names are also editable directly on the Flows themselves (bottom panel in Setup mode).

FWIW, I am a frequent Flow duplicator, @konradh, as it really facilitates my compositional workflow vis-à-vis sketching multiple variations of an idea. (Since flows can be reordered, I can quickly drag things into a new order and use a listen to help make version decisions.)

Echoing @MarcLarcher, I’m always ctrl - rename-ing them directly in the bottom panel in Setup Mode.

I definitely find the flexibility and efficiency of not having multiple projects (with playback enabled for all, which slows things down) well worth the tradeoff of the slight bit of disorientation before selecting an item in the current flow.

@Christian_R , Your videos are fantastic. Just a small question, though: do you know why the flow name does not show up at the top of the screen for me like to does for you? When I select something in a flow, the flow name/number does not appear.

Maybe I have set something wrong.

 Thanks!

Hi @konradh, if you could share your project, I can take look.
