Duplicate folders of Steinberg VST contents

I’m checking my laptop for duplicate files and folders with this (cool) little soft http://www.digitalvolcano.co.uk/duplicatecleaner.html

In the analysis I find duplicate files in:

C:\ProgramData\Steinberg\Content\VST Sound\

c:\Users\MyUser\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Content\VST Sound\

C:\ProgramData\Steinberg\Content\HALionVST Sound\

c:\Users\MyUser\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Content\HAlion\VST Sound\

There are several files of 500MB~600MB like:

Is this the way those files need to be installed? taking the double of space?

Hola distante,

this depends on your installation settings:

  • If you install the software for “all users” the content is placed in ProgramData.
  • If you do not install the software for “all users” it is located in AppData.

Are you sure that those duplicated files aren’t just shortcuts? If not, then you have probably installed those content sets twice, once for all users and once for just one user.

I see, I will check that as soon as I get to my studio.

If I want to remove one of then, do I have to uninstall everything first?

I use Duplicate Remover Free. http://manyprog.com . It is free and quick.
