Duplicating MIDI events

When I duplicate MIDI events…

image

…I would like to tie the copy to the inital event that I have created or that I was recording. Means: If I change anything in the first event I also want the copies of the event to automatically adapt the changes that I made to the first one.

Additionally I would like being able to define that if I change anything in the copies of the initial event the changes are kept in the copies (as soon as I change anything in the initial clip again the changes should become applied to all the copies again).

Would love being able to turn on and off such a function that automatically brings changes to the duplicated clips from the first clip or allows to behave as it is now without automatically changing and adapting the event copies.

Read about “shared copies“ in the manual! That’s what you want.

Agree.

And also the thing you are showing in your pic is a MIDI Part. MIDI Events are stuff like the Notes inside your MIDI Parts.

Thanks. I always want to call them “clips” as I dealt with Ableton before… MIDI parts… hope I can save this in my head

Yeah, Cubase is a bit weird because it was so early some items got names that turned out to be different than the de facto consensus that emerged around what names to use.

…or in other words: everyone else does it wrongly.
