Dynamic sign under a tied noted

I am trying to write a dynamic sign in my last bar after a crescendo. Because the note is tied to the previous bar, I cannot write the dynamic sign in the right place. How can I solve this?
Is there a way to write a dynamic underneath a tied note or for example on the second beat of the bar underneath a whole note?

Use the caret. Tip: Add dynamics in the middle of tied notes – Dorico

The thing that’s not mentioned in the video is that if you double click on the stave, not the note, the caret will appear where you double click.

Ok, that is very helpful, thanks!

@pianoleo , I was about to enter a post but searched first and found your very helpful answer. Thank you!

I have a multi-bar string tremolo that needs to decrescendo down to ppp.
