Dynamics all over the place!

Hello Friends, I’m working on an SATB/piano/Strings. I’ve attached photos of the play set up and expression connection. All of the voices, piano and top strings have the same “Velocity+mod wheel” setting. Only the Bass is different. If I put the Velocity+mod wheel” on the basses they do not sound at all.

If I mark all instruments at “mp” the strings sound about 6 times louder than the voices. The piano gets lost completely. I have clusters in the piano part that fade out as if I had a waa-waa pedal on it. I’m trying to ignore those problems while I continue to compose, but I just can’t listen anymore. Thank you in advance for any help with the dynamics. I will change any setting I have to in order to listen correctly !!!

Try turning off the various playback humanization options such as automatic polyphonic voice balancing and pitch contour emphasis. These can be powerful tools when handled well but can cause some weirdness if left unattended. These are found in Playback Options → Dynamics.
