Is it possible to break words across lines?
Do I need to split ‘forte’ and the word into separate lines?
As suffix in the Dynamics properties it’s not possible.
No. ‘f’ cannot be religious. Just use system text for this directive. It is more a directive than a modification of forte.
I agree with @Andro that they should be separate. But could a “hard” (non-breaking) space be placed in front of whatever term is used? Is there a property for offset? (Not at a computer right now!

Unless this is a vocal line, I would expect the forte to appear below the staff and the religiosamente to appear above the staff.
Even in piano/organ music?
