Dynamics on tied notes

Another question of the day.
Still testing Dorico (my trial version ends in a few days), I’m baffled by one detail:
I’ve added a dynamic to a score using the popover ; so far so good. I had selected several notes in different staves (using the Com key on the Mac), so that this dynamic would be assigned to these notes in one go. So far, so good, but then one of these notes was tied, and you can see where I’m going with this : my dynamic indication was moved to the beginning of this tied note, in the previous measure, and not where I wanted it to appear (it’s an oboe, which, in the continuity of the sound, can suddenly play p).
Is this normal behaviour for Dorico or have I done something wrong ? How can I make my nuance appear on the last tied note, without having to move it by hand in engraver mode ?

Firstly, if you want to change where something happens in time don’t move it in Engrave mode!! That’s for graphical nudging only.

Secondly, there’s no way currently to specify a single notehead in a tie chain for the purposes of adding other notations at that position.

What you can do instead is either move that one dynamic rhythmically in Write mode:

Or from the outset, show the caret, extend it across staves, and then input the dynamic: that inputs the dynamic specifically at the caret position. That’s also useful for adding dynamics (or playing techniques etc) in the middle of ties).

Or, add the dynamic to one staff, then duplicate it to staves above/below using the Paste Special commands – I’ve assigned key commands to these two, which come in handy a lot.

YES ! That is the solution (just tried).
Thank you very Much, Miss Harris for your reply.

We have the same problem about slurs : if the slur begin on the last note of a tied note (for example, slur on four demisemiquavers, the first of this ones tied to a previous quarter), that slur will extend over the all tied note. Unfortunately, the trick you mention (caret) doesn’t work in this case

Miss Harris : vous êtes formidable ! Merci beaucoup. :slightly_smiling_face:
