Easier accessible tempo tap function

The workflow for me often looks like this:

  1. Play on keyboard or drum pads
  2. Have an idea
  3. Click multiple times to get to “press spacebar to approximate tempo”
  4. Close dialogs
  5. Round up / down
  6. Enter rounded value for tempo

What I would like is a way to access the tap tempo function quickly and also have it round / up down (optionally) to the nearest integer value.

To be honest, I was even considering getting myself a little hardware metronome so I could get tempo tapping done faster.
