Eastwest’s Play instrument takes more than 10 minutes to load its first instance in a new project. Subsequent instances load almost immediately.
Project files with the instrument already used in them load normally.
Other instruments load without an issue.
What can be going on here?

As you described, other instruments load without an issue. Therefore I would get in touch with EastWest.
Agreed - I am working on 14 Pro and Play opens up just as smoothly as any other VST on my Windows 11 system.
Perhaps remove Play, reboot and reinstall as a first step?
I may have found the issue. Without C14 running there was a ghost play.exe running in the background. When I closed this and re-booted Cubase14 and Play started playing well together again.
