Easy cross staff beaming for piano music

I’m looking to beam together two eighth notes each in a different staff, without altering the nearby eighth rests (as shown in the attached screenshot). Is there a simple way to do this?

I searched the forum and tried out the solutions offered, but so far have been unsuccessful in getting the result I’m looking for.

Thanks.

Good question! Put the first beat in the LH, second beat in the RH; for the B on beat 2, hit the M key to move it onto the bottom staff.

Then, type comma (,) to activate rest input, and O to activate Force Duration; then input two 8th rests by typing any note name (since Rests are activated). Then finally, click on the 8th rest on beat 2, and hit the N key to move it to the top staff.

A little complicated perhaps, because you must override Dorico’s treatment of rests, but it gets all the rests and notes in the right place.

Very helpful – thank you! And I learned some new tricks in the process.
