Easy solution for introduction brackets

Good morning, Dan! Yesterday, I purchased the upgrade to Dorico 6 pro & excitedly went back to your sample file, hoping that now the process would proceed smoothly.

Unfortunately, after I click the pencil while the bracket sample is highlighted, the screen shows the “curve with arrow (down)”, which is the default #1.
(& re-opening Dorico 5, “Long dashed line” came after the pencil click.

For some reason, your custom brackets are not recognized.

Thank you again for your help!

Hi Karen, I’m not sure why it’s not working, I’m sorry.

Could you post a dorico file where it’s not working?

Jesper

I encountered the same when pressing the pencil icon. You have to scroll the list up and down a little to find the brackets and then press the star to Save as Default.

A contribution like that demonstrates the beauty of Dorico community. Grateful

Dan!! Success!!! I want to let you know that I just got it figured out!!! Before I got out of bed this morning, I had a flash of insight that perhaps the fact that I had opened your sample before upgrading & was using that copy, that perhaps starting from scratch would make a difference. (In the end, I don’t think that was relevant, but at least it got me to revisit the challenge!)

After selecting the bracket & then the line tool, once again, the curve was in the window, but I had the sudden thought that perhaps I was to scroll through the options & see if the brackets were there, &, “tada!” they appeared in the screen, & how about that- were labeled in the listing as “intro brackets”! I “starred” it as you had instructed, & “voila!” They were available when I opened my own personal document!

Thank you once again for your generosity in making this solution available to the community! I am so appreciative!
