When I change the name of a kit piece in the Percussion Map using Edit Names, the new name doesn’t update. The old name stays the same in the score and elsewhere.
Anyone else experienced this?
Thanks
Why would the name in the percussion map have an impact on what’s shown in the score?
The percussion map is the bridge between the notation and the VST instruments that are going to interpret the notation. The problem, if you’ve edited the instruments’ names in the percussion map, is that Dorico might not be able to make the link with the instruments you have in your score (since those names have not changed).
Now, I 'm thinking a little bit differently. Are you sure you’ve been editing the percussion map? That’s something you can do through Play mode>Play menu >Percussion map.
It would be more likely that you were editing the instruments in your kit, in Setup mode. In that case, I have no idea why it would not show in your page. Maybe overrides? (Although I’m not sure overrides would stop instrument names from updating). Check your Engrave mode right panel, top tool (Pages). Do you see red triangles on the corner of pages? Those are overrides. Right-click them >Remove overrides from this page. What happens?
Sorry: edit Percussion Kit, not Map. No overrides.
Ciao!
I’ve tried to do it. Here are a series of screenshots I’ve taken to show where the changes happen :
This is where you made the change, right?
So in the kit editor, the change is not reflected. Granted, this is weird, and might be a feature request (or a bug report).
Then, in the score, as 1-line-staff :
or as grid :
and even as 5-line-staff:
So yes, you are right, there is something wrong going on in the percussion kit editor. But it should not stop you from publishing what you need
