I would like to revive this thread to express my hope that we might some day be able to create and edit playing and playback techniques and save them globally, that is, if I open a new project or an old project, if I open any project, I always have my global techniques.
I don’t want to have techniques linked to and saved only within projects or playback templates, because those can cause their own problems when applied to an existing project.
My ideal situation is to create a consistent, stable, re-usable set of playback/playing techniques for use in any project at all, old or new. This may be unrealistic because of the design of Dorico, and it may be unrealistic because such things would no longer be on the near-term list because of the daunting influx of other priorities.
Related to this, it would be extremely helpful if we could manage the list of these techniques all together without being segmented by category, which makes chasing things down needlessly tedious. If something is mis-categorized (by me) one has to search separately in each categoy for the possibility of a duplicate, or a different spelling, or whatever.
Comprehensive and independent organization of techniques and expression maps is a worthy goal, at least for me. At least with expression maps we can export-save them to whatever folder we want and then import them for use in any project. Something similar for techniques would be a step in the right direcion.
(I have duly noted the workaround suggestions in this thread)
