Editing a Chord Diagram

Is there a way to tidy this up? From context, most players will assume it is not played without the x.
Thanks.

The X indicates that the string should not be played. What would you prefer to see there?
I think most players would assume it IS played without the X. I may have misunderstood though.

Hmmm. The options are x for not played, o for open (played), or with just the bar. If neither x or o are indicated I would hope context plays a role.

For aesthetic reasons the clash of the bar and x are non-desirable.

I find this annoying as well.

You could use a solid barré instead of the parenthesis style… Haven’t tried it, however… But logic-wise, the x should go away then?

My point is how else should a barre be shown where one or more strings is not to be played?

Yes, I just tried it. Both ways to show a barré allow an “X” on the affected strings. That makes no sense, and needs to be fixed in my humble opinion.
Meaning, as soon as there is a barré indication, all open string markings should be removed on those strings.

B.

There are no open strings in the example provided. We are talking about the X marker - strings that aren’t played. You don’t have to play every string just because there is a barre.

Ah, fair enough! If you want to enable Xs and Barré, it’s likely best to use this option:
