Aren’t there instructions or tutors to help with editing xml files from Finale? I have a piece for viola & piano that is majorly screwed up. I can’t imagine having to spend a lifetime reformatting the entire piece.
First of all, if you already have PDFs; and your copy of Finale is still working: then there’s no urgent panic to get everything into Dorico as soon as you can.
It’s worth preparing the file in Finale before you transfer. Run the “Check for Durations” plug-in, to fix any measures with too many or not enough notes.
Make sure that time signatures are as straight-forward as possible. Don’t use “Displays as”; don’t use Large time sigs.
I also show how Dorico’s XML import settings work to best advantage in my video on Finale to Dorico XML; and typical tidying up that needs doing.
If you have a file that has problems, then upload the XML file here (you may need to zip it first). At the very least, show use screenshots of what the screw ups are.
