I’m trying to indicate chord symbol Dm/A, but when I type that in the popover (CTRL+Q), Dorico shows that as Ddim/A. I want it to show as a minor chord in the 2nd inversion – not as a diminished chord. I want to change that without changing the way a diminished chord symbol appears because I will use dim chords too. I’ve tried editing the chord symbol in Engrave mode by deleting the “dim” and adding text, “m.” But when I go back to the popover and type Dm/A, it is the Ddim/A that shows up even after I’ve edited it. Has anyone had experience with changing this. I’m sure I’m missing a step. I just don’t know what it is.
We are going to need to see a file, even if it’s a cut down to a single bar exhibiting that behavior, as that’s certainly unusual. If you don’t want to post a file, I would start by deleting or resetting any manual overrides. If that still doesn’t fix it, use the Library Manager to reset any of the Chord Symbol selections and Glyph Primitives.
This is what it looked like when I typed the chord symbol in the Ctrl+Q popover:
And this is what the result looked like:
As you suggested, I reset the factory defaults in the chord symbol library. I was surprised to see that the chord I was trying to use (Dm/A) was listed as a project default with Ddim/A as the result. I have no idea how that happened.
But, I’m happy to say that your suggestion solved my problem, and I learned something new in the process. Thank you!
