Hi All,
Cubase has always, until a recent change, opened MIDI and audio parts at a sensible zoom setting. But something has changed on my system (maybe a recent update?) so that when I open an editor the zoom setting is all the way out, so events are miniscule. So, I have to zoom all the way back in to do any editing. I cannot find a way to fix this behaviour. I have tried saving new screen sets with the correct zoom setting, but something is overriding this.
I’ve attached a screenshot to illustrate this. Of course, I would prefer it if the whole part was zoomed to fill the available space be default.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks.
There is a key command, that does not have a binding by default if my memory serves me well. The key command will zoom the entire part in the key editor. I am not at the computer right now, I think it is called “zoom full (horizontal)” or something similiar.
It is one of my most often used KCs.
Thanks. Yes, I know this one. But you first have to select the notes and zoom to fit screen. But this is two extra steps, which adds up over a session. This has never been an issue until recently, so something appears to have changed.
I don’t select notes, I just press my key command. It will zoom the entire selected part.
Zoom settings for the key editor seem to be stored for each part individually. I think it has been this way for a long time, so it is hard to fathom what changed for you.
Maybe the multi-part approach, that got introduced with Cubase 13, changed something.
Thank you, you’re correct - ‘Zoom Full’ doesn’t require you to first select all the notes. This is still an extra step, however, that I didn’t need to take until recently.
Zoom to part. Zoom to locators. Cursor to left locator.
For me all of these are used daily in macros, some of them quite long because I want certain things to show up. Some, unfortunately, don’t work without a small time delay, however in Cubase I think you could create small macros with success?
If you open the Key Editor with a double click, it opens completely zoomed out? What happens once you open the Key Editor and you zoom in for example 4 bars, then close the Key Editor?
Then double click the part again. Does it show just the 4 bars as expected, or is it completely zoomed out?
I’ve just discovered that if I delete my Workspaces, normal zoom behaviour returns in the editors. However, as soon as I create a new Workspace for my default layout, the unwanted zoomed out editor behaviour returns. So, I’m stumped.
OK, I think I have found the issue and believe this could be a bug. The zoomed out behaviour only happens after I have recalled my default workspace. I have a key command to get back to my default layout, and often use this to get out of the editor and back to the arrange page.
If I open and close the editor with the normal open/close editor commend, the zoom setting is remembered and recalled as expected.
However, after recalling my main Workspace with a key command, the zoomed out behaviour returns.
So, I at least have a workaround to my issue, but it means I cannot use Workspaces without messing up my zoom settings!
If I save my Workspace with the zoom settings I want, this is forgotten when recalling the workspace.
