there are quite a few guitar-based holidays around (e.g. learn spanish guitar for a week in andalucia etc). does anyone know of holidays geared to electronic music?

Depends on your location… In London you have Sonic Acadamy/ Point Blank et such. Here in the Netherlands there are some Steinberg course providers that offer general courses for EDM too… Check you local music gear store, they might have some more info
