I’m trying out Cubase Elements 8 AI LE, and it mostly seems great. The one thing I haven’t been able to figure out is how to get controller messages sent out of my interface’s MIDI Out port. I have a MIDI track designated for it, and I can set the channel to what I want, but the only options it seems to have for output are VST Instruments. I’m probably missing something really obvious. There’s a section in the manual for “Using MIDI devices” but it seems like that’s just for naming program change/bank select presets? I started one but it didn’t seem to make a difference. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I would say you are using Instrument Track (which is ment for virtual Instruments only) instead of MIDI Track (which you can use for virtual instruments but also for external MIDI Ports.
Ugh, thank you. It didn’t occur to me that would be a third kind of track. It works now!
