elicenser control error failed to send getinfo command

Hi

So after many years of PC, i’ve moved over to mac.
Got myself a nice new macbook pro and installed cubase 10 pro
However, after trashing prefs, reinstalling elicenser etc i’m still getting this error message

Can anyone please help as i’ve been trying to resolve it for the past 8 hours and am close to throwing the mac out the window.
Even when cuabse does eventually load, as soon as i load anything, it crashes.
I could literally cry.

just to add as well, everything works perfectly in studio one on the mac.
however when i try to load up padshop in studio one, this error comes up


Please can anyone shed any light?
