eLicenser problems Cubase 14

Hi:
I recently installed Cubase 14 Elements in my computer, but when I try to start it, it doesn’t, due whether to a one of thesse issues (one of them each time):

  1. A window opens up that says “WaveLab8 LE has caused the following error”… and it’s related to eLicenser. I don’t know how to solve it.
  2. Another windows that says: “Necessary files or information for the validity of the Soft-eLicenser have been changed or corrupted”… etc., etc.

Moreover, whenever I close Cubase and restart it, all the VSTs previously loaded are missing.

Can anyone help me? Thanks!

Cubase 14 is not using elicenser…It should be licensed in Steinberg activation manager.
Was your C14 Elements an upgrade from an older version?
Maybe it can’t access the soft elicense to upgrade the license?

So look in activation manager first and tell us if Cubase is showing as activated?

I have Cubase 5 installed in my PC since years ago, and last thursday I bought and activated Cubase 14. In Activation Manager, both Cubase and Navia Harp show as activated. No other thing shows there.

OK…so Cubase should be able to run ok…and your message is a bit confusing as you say it won’t start, but then you mention closing and restarting it and not finding plugins…which suggests it must be starting?

For the elicenser errors maybe install latest elicenser software and if necessary try to follow reactivation process.

Do you still have WaveLab 8 LE installed on your machine? That is a product that still requires the Soft eLicenser.

You can either deinstall WaveLab 8 or try to reactivate your Soft eLicenser to enable it again.

Uhm, @Grim was slightly faster

I am completely lost:

  1. Whe I try to open Cubase 14, a window says “Necessary files or information for the validity of the Soft-eLicenser have been changed or corrupted”… etc. I close the window and stop Cubase process by means of “Task Manager” of Windows.
  2. I try to open Cubase again, and then it opens a “Secure mode” window; if i click “Refuse third parties’ VST” (something like that) then Cubase opens.
  3. I find that all VST are gone; I try to reload them again, and then returns the windows i described in step 1. I close it and VST load.
  4. I work… I close Cubase… and when I try to open it again, all the process (steps 1-3) repeat again.

Moreover, in any of the steps 1-3, a window opens that says “Application WaveLab 8 LE has caused the following error: eLicenser contains no valid license for this application”.

I’ve just uninstalled old Cubase 5 and reinitialized PC, but the problem remains the same.

In “Software/license activation & reactivation” I don’t know what to do, and I as well am afraid I make the problem even worse if I touch anything there (lucky me, I do not know what to do there).

Help, please!

Please open the eLicenser Control Center and make a screenshot. Meke sure you blure the license codes there.

That means you need to reactivate the Soft elicenser, because the one on your machine is somehow corripted.

What means reinitialize? What exactly did you do here?

You need to follow exactly the steps for reactivating the Soft elicenser.
You can’t make it worse, it is already corrupted.

-When I open “eLicenser control”, an error window comes up saying: “LCC2 has caused the following error: …bla bla bla… synsopos.exe failed”. And no code can be introduced, because that part is faded to grey.
-When I try to reinstall eLicenser, new error windows open up: synsoac error and so.
-I said “reinitialize” because I’m Spanish and I don’t know how to say: I mean restart my computer. Not turning it off, but restarting.

Download the latest eLicenser Control Center again and install it.

Ok, that is fine, because that stops processes still running in the background.

However, try to install the latest eLicenser Control first and then try to reactivate your license.

I just installed a new eLicenser and it remains exactly the same.

Have you tried to uninstall Wavelab 8 LE, as @JuergenP suggested? The error message points to Cubase wanting to load Wavelab or some part from that (for whatever reason), and fails.
If you still want to use Wavelab, maybe it would be a good idea to upgrade to the current Wavelab Elements, because the eLicenser system will be shut down this year, so you would be able to reactivate Wavelab anymore, or e.g. install it on a new. There is a sale going on at steinberg where you can get the upgrade from LE8 for ~23€.

Cubase tries to load Wavelab 8 that requires elicenser. So the problem is that Wavelab 8 isn’t activated. Activate wavelab 8 via elicenser control center. Or upgrade to a newer version that doesn’t require elicenser.

I finally solved the problem. The point was reinstalling eLicenser. I don’t know very wel how I got it, but I did. The WaveLab problem remains, but Cubase opens and runs perfectly and now it doesn’t forget the VST loaded.

Thank you very mucho for your help!

Hello, Fese.

I really don’t know whtat is WaveLab, and, in the case that it is not necessary for Cubase to work fine, I’d like to delete it. The quiestion is that I can’t find it. Yesterday I deleted all the files containing the word “wavelab”, but the window showing the problem about it still appears.

Hello, YeahThatKornel:

I don’t know how to do it.

You shouldn’t need to be deleting files manually…did you check in windows add/remove programs first?

Yes, of course. That’s why I ended up deleting files manually.

OK…so now you have elicenser working. if you open it up do you see any wavelab license in there?
Also in your Steinberg account/My Products section you should see it if it’s ever been activated by you.

No, WaveLab does not show in eLicenser neither in “My products”.
