Eligibility for Free Updates in Cubase AI 15

I received an email stating that I can update to Cubase AI 15, but I can’t find the license anywhere.

What’s going on?

For reference, here’s what I currently own:

  • Cubase AI 9.5
  • Cubase Artist 12
  • An unactivated Cubase AI license

Thank you for your assistance.

Welcome to the Forum.

You probably got the free update to your Cubase AI 9.5 license to the latest Cubase AI 15. You can check your vouchers and licenses in your mySteinberg profile.

I had a similar mail regarding LE and I can see in SDA that 15LE is listed as a download for me. I suspect if I could install it that it would automatically license itself in Activation Manager though I can’t test this because I have the Pro license and the install is the same.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve done this because of the number of manual requests they are fulfilling for updating LE or AI that are on the forum. It makes sense they just allow updates from any earlier version.

Thank you both for your responses.

The problem is that I can’t find the license key anywhere in My Steinberg.

I received an email for CB15AI as well as another for CB15LE. Both show in my products and are d-loadable in DLA. Once installed - both fail on launch with a “no licence” message. I’ve checked vouchers etc. as well as launching with “alt” key. Still fails. I work daily with CB14Pro…. Zero issues.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Just out of curiosity - why would you want to install these licenses? You can already open any version with Cubase Pro up to C14 x.

Great question. My studio setup is running on Win10 / CB14Pro, on a machine that was put together for me by a multimedia company in 2011 (already an early adopter of TPM), and it’s running HARDCORE PERFECT (60+ tracks at times and lots of plugins). But it is due to be replaced (needs TPM 2.0…. has 1.1 or whatever), but that’s probably not happening until Spring 2026. I have a LTop (minimal 3rd party plugins installed, etc.) that “travels” which I like to write on/sketch out ideas/test s/ware which may become part of my updates/future studio core s/ware. I can’t afford lost time but do want to see potential new features (if any or or post release updates), before I dive in. Not certain I even need anything in CB15. I have been doing this for years and it’s never failed me yet! …As time creeps closer to my main machine not being Win11 compliant… til spring, I’m wearing a t-shirt that says “Stay calm… and hit RECORD! Cheers!
