I can’t figure out why a percussion instrument staff appears in a system where there are no notes or anything. If I delete the content of any instrument of that percussion player in the next system, it disappears…

Not sure, but it works if you set this Layout Option. So I guess the instrument changes. (Library->Layout Options->Players->Intrument Changes)

I’m still curious to understand why that happened for future cases, but this did work as an alternative for me. Thanks!

Can’t you use hide empty staves?

No, the actual project is way bigger and I don’t want to hide empty staves in general. Your first solution worked for my project, but I still want to understand why the staff showed up in the first place even though it was empty.
