Endpoints... please help to clear my confusion

I’m trying to get a clearer understanding of how endpoints function, as I’m a little baffled by something I’ve just observed in Dorico 6.

I was experimenting with different mic presets in VSL’s Yamaha CFX VST and made some adjustments that ultimately weren’t helpful. I then quit Dorico without overwriting the endpoint for the VST, though I did save the project (Cmd+S).

After restarting Dorico and reopening the project, I found that the changes I’d made within the VSL plug-in had been preserved.

How is that possible?

I think the clue is that you saved the project, which preserves the current state of VSTs.

The Endpoint is only important if you want to create a playback template.

Thanks for the clarification, @Janus, much appreciated. May I ask a follow-up question…?

I have Independent Voices enabled on my Keyboard 1 part, which is routed to the VSL CFX VST.

In the Assigned Instruments section, Staff (a), Voice 1 (stem up) is showing the wrong instrument, “Cues” (a dummy instrument I created to generate cue material), rather than Keyboard 1.

The VST itself appears to be functioning correctly for Keyboard 1, but I’m concerned about why Cues is listed in this window. I’m also unable to change it from Cues to Keyboard 1.

I’ve no idea how Cues ended up there in the first place, and I’m wondering whether this is something I should be worried about.
